What is RENEW 2000?
RENEW 2000 is a
spiritual renewal program that our parishes are doing, starting this fall. It's great
because it only involves meeting once a week for six weeks during which time we meet in
small groups in peoples homes to share faith and to grow closer to God.
RENEW 2000 is a way our whole
diocese is getting ready for the year 2000. Over 90 parishes habve participated in RENEW
200 since October of 1998! People have been meeting in small groups in homes for one
meeting for each of six weeks. What's really good about it is they've designed it for
people in the 20's and 30's, as well as older folks. Find out which parishes are participating in
RENEW 2000!
RENEW 2000 is a program that
will help bring back more life into our parishes. People can feel like they belong more
easily because when they join a RENEW 2000 group, it's not too big. Also, it's perfect for
people with busy lives because the groups only meet once a week for six weeks starting
this fall.
RENEW 2000 is a pastoral
response to Pope John Paul II's call for spiritual renewal in his letter Tertio Millennio
Adveniente. It is based on the scriptures, on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the
Pope's letter.
RENEW 2000 is taking place in
many dioceses around the country and around the world. The faith-sharing materials are
available in different languages from RENEW International.
RENEW 2000 Prayer
Gracious God,
We are your people embraced by your love.
We thank you for your presence with us throughout all time.
As we celebrate the 2000 years since the birth of Jesus...
Create us anew.
Liberate us from that which keeps us from you.
Enable us to recreate our world and restore justice.
Heal us from every form of sin and violence.
Transform us to live your Word more profoundly.
Reconcile us so enemies become friends.
Awaken us to the sacred; nurture our relationships;
Enliven our parishes; reunite our families.
Fill us with joy to celebrate the fullness of life.
Empower us to be a community of love growing in your likeness.
Amen!
